TORONTO - The Brockton Rockers posted a 6-1 victory over the Parkdale Hockey Lads this past Saturday night at Upper Canada College as the 2019 UUHA Playoffs officially got underway. The loss represented the 10th game in a row that the Lads have failed to find the win column. Kyle Welton had the lone Lads goal, while Daniel Wilcox (2), Dustin Harris (2), Bryan Eelhart and Michael Wilcox all tallied for the victorious side. The game was the first of a two-game, first-to-three-points series between the two squads. The second game of the series is scheduled for this coming Saturday night.
Also Saturday night, the Beau's Beer Hack skated to a 3-3 draw with the Gas Station Islanders in the first game of those two teams' opening-round Playoffs series (also a two-game, first-to-three-points series scheduled to be decided this coming Saturday). Dominic Chartier and Grant MacArthur were among the GSI goal scorers, while Aaron Foster, Chris Barkley and Chris Cacciotti each lit the lamp for the Hack.
The Jokers and Humiliation took to the ice as well on Saturday night, playing the first game of a three-game round-robin series that also includes the Wheatfield Souldiers. The Humiliation got the better of the Jokers on this night, taking a lead in the series with a 2-0 win over the Funniest Team on Ice. Jimmy Sioukas and Sean Morrison scored for the Humiliation, while Paul Morris, Luke Moretti and Mike Thompson were credited with assists.
UUHA Playoff action continues this coming Saturday at UCC with the Souldiers and Jokers taking to the ice at 8:00 pm, followed by Game 2 of the Lads/Rockets series at 9:00 pm. The evening's opening contest will see the Hack and GSI settle things one way or the other at 7:00 pm.
