TORONTO - UUHA players who work up an appetite during a game may soon be sated with a savoury prize for their on-ice efforts. A new promotion involving Uncle Jack's Home Made Perogies will see a selected Player of the Game presented with a complimentary package of Uncle Jack's new Boil-N-Bag perogies, fully cooked and garnished, loaded with sauerkraut and potato (among other flavourful ingredients) and sourced and produced in Courtice, Ontario. Just heat and serve! So what's Uncle Jack's connection to the UUHA? The company is owned and operated by veteran Jokers forward Adrian Cavan's mom, dad and sister, and he couldn't be more proud to see the family recipe taking off. Since starting up just four years ago, Uncle Jack's Home Made Perogies are now available in over 25 grocery stores, farmers markets and specialty butcher shops throughout Southern Ontario, including The Meat Dept. on the Danforth... and at one lucky hockey rink. According to their web site
, the family is confident Uncle Jack's is the best perogie on the planet and now selected UUHA players will get an opportunity to find out for themselves. For Adrian's part, he says he's just happy to get the word out about Uncle Jack's and to promote goodwill around the league, "and possibly fatten up the other teams' best players."
