![]() TORONTO - The Red River Rebellion defeated Team Impulse! by a score of 5-1 this past Good Friday at McCormick Arena to capture the 2018 Super Cup. The day-long tournament was truly a battle of the ages... ranging from the early teens to full-on senior citizenry.
Dante Orfao scored the first and game-winning second goal for the Rebellion, while Lucas Caravela also potted a pair for the winning side.
More importantly, the tournament raised over $2,400 towards a donations to the Portage Ontario Drug Addiction Rehabilitation Centre for Youth, in honour and memory of Louis Desjardins.
Said Louis' father, Joseph Desjardins, on behalf of he and Louis' mother, Jennifer: "We'd like to thank everyone for coming out and being so welcoming to Louis' young and fast friends. Special thanks to Erin Dowse for organizing and running the kick-ass Super Cup cafe, and all the rink rock 'n' rollers - Luke, Luis, Jason, Simon, Sean and more. And thanks to the Chuckster who made it all happen."
The win marked the second Super Cup title for the Rebellion, who also captured the coveted chalice in 2015 with a victory over the 3-2 Screamin' Jays. This year's Jays squad finished out of the Semifinals, but won the Super Consolation Final and imparted an international flavour to the tournament with three visiting Swiss players among its ranks.
