TORONTO - Members of the Jokers Hockey Club are enjoying the holidays as UUHA league leaders. The Funniest Team on Ice routed the Parkdale Lads 8-4 in the final regular-season game of the league's 2009 calendar.
Perhaps inspired by his new team jersey (#110), rookie forward Hunter Collins posted a three-point night for the winning side. Meanwhile, Jokers captain Ted Bisailion and Gary Rideout Jr. skated away with four points each on the night. On the Lads side, Mike Frolick potted a pair of goals and helped out on another, garnering 2nd Star of the Game honours for his efforts.
The win shuffled the Jokers back into first place ahead of the rival Wheatfield Souldiers who, along with the fourth place Humiliation, did not see action on the final Saturday of the year.
In the night's other game, the Gas Station Islanders registered another big win, this time over travelling exhibition squad the London Fog. UUHA scoring leader Dominic Chartier increased his points margin with a stunning four goals and two assists. The Fog's Sean McLaughlin posted some impressive digits, too, netting three goals and an assist. GSI went on to win the game 7-4.
UUHA regular-season action returns to the ice at Upper Canada College on Saturday, Jan. 16.
