TORONTO - The second last weekend of the 2016 Regular Season saw the Jokers Hockey Club edge the Parkdale Lads 5-4 to lay claim to the 2016 President's Trophy. With 25.5 points and two Regular Season games yet to play, the Jokers will maintain 1st place in the UUHA standings going into the 2016 Playoffs. The next closest team, the Wheatfield Souldiers, are sitting at 22 points with just a single Regular Season game left to play. Similarly, neither the 3rd place Beau's Beer Hack (19.5 points) nor the 4th place Humiliation (19 points) will be able to catch the Funniest Team on Ice prior to the commencement of the postseason. The 2016 UUHA Playoffs get underway Saturday, Feb. 27 at Upper Canada College.

Charlie Rishor, Marc Hickox, Ted Bisaillion, Steve Levine and Sean Cullen all tallied for the Jokers. Kyle Welton had a pair of goals for the Lads, while Fernando Freitas and Mike Frolick also found the back of their opponent's net. Jokers forward Sean Cullen was also credited with an assist, giving the team veteran an impressive 8 points in his last 4 games while maintaining a four-game scoring streak.

In other UUHA action this past Saturday night, the Parkdale Porcupines defeated the Hack 2-1 to better their position in league standings (the team is now in 5th place). Adam Thrasher and spare Marc Hickox tallied for the Quills, while Lance Moreton claimed the lone goal for the reigning league Champions.

Meanwhile the Brockton Rockets saw their winless streak extended to 4 games as they were downed by the Dufferin Groove 3-2. Chris Dinsdale, Jeff Boulton and Dave Volker lit the lamp for the Groove, while team scoring leaders Dustin Harris and James Walker scored for the Rockets, the latter bulging the twine with just 13 seconds remaining in the final frame.

Currently in 7th place overall, the Rockets (3-8-5) could finish out the Regular Season as high as 6th, providing the manage a penalty-free win over the Souldiers (9-4-2) this coming Saturday afternoon at Maple Leaf Gardens. That would give the Brockton Boys a half-point edge on the Islanders (5-7-3), however, GSI has two games yet to play, and in the event of a points tie with Brockton, would get the edge based on head-to-head results in the teams' Regular Season series.

Next Saturday's slate of evening games at UCC will see the Porcupines (5-9-2) close out their Regular Season schedule against the Isles at 7:00 PM, while the Lads (3-10-2) and Humilation (8-5-2) will not only play their final game before the Playoffs, but will also mark their 50th match against one another. (The Humiliation is also rumoured to be using the occasion to unveil a new look.) That tilt takes place at 8:00 PM. Currently 4th in the standings, a win could see the Humiliation finish as high as 3rd place, depending on the outcome of the 9:00 PM match between the Hack (7-4-4) and Jokers (10-1-3). Incidentally, the Humiliation is the only team - thus far - to defeat the Jokers this season. That happened on Nov. 14 when the Orange Tide posted a 6-4 win over Heino's presently-soaring squad.

The Jokers and GSI will have the last word on the Regular Season on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at McCormick Arena when they meet for a 10:00 PM contest rescheduled from earlier in the season.
