TORONTO - The Gas Station Islanders edged the Brockton Rockets 4-3 in the second game of a back-to-back home-and-away series at Maple Leaf Gardens (the first game ended in a 2-2 tie), while the Humiliation beat the Meat to the tune of 4-0 under the iconic Carleton Street dome. Meanwhile, up at Upper Canada College, the Jokers pushed their unbeaten streak to three games with a 5-1 victory over the Parkdale Porcupines. The balance of the evening's programme played out like a two-hour drawing class as the Hack and Wheatfield Souldiers wrapped up their back-to-back series with a 1-1 tie (the Souldiers took the first game 3-1), while the Parkdale Lads evened up on the Groove in a game that also returned a 1-1 result.

Jokers veteran Sean Cullen earned UUHA Player of the Week honours with his first hat-trick in recent memory. Cullen's first goal (assisted by Charlie Rishor and Derek Thompson) lit the lamp at the 1:21 mark of the 2nd period. His next two markers came in the 3rd frame and included a near buzzer-beater with just 37 seconds remaining in the game. Gary Rideout Jr. and Tyler Stewart also scored for the Funniest Team on Ice, while Matt Latreille accounted for the lone goal for the Porcupines (3-7-2), spoiling goaltender Burke Lawrence's shutout bid unassisted at the 4:42 mark of the 3rd. The win saw the Jokers (8-1-2) recapture top spot in the league standings. The team currently sits a half point ahead of the Souldiers (8-2-2) albeit with a game in hand.

Despite his team's loss, Rockets forward Dustin Harris was the man of the match for his side, scoring once and assisting on Brockton's other two goals, which were potted by Oliver Sutherns and James Neilson. On the victors' side, although he didn't make the goal column, Dominic Chartier figured into three of his team's four goals, setting up talies for Seth Singer, Ryan Kalinka and Ian McRobie. Cam Collyer stepped up with the game-winning goal, scored on the power-play at the 5:05 mark of the final frame with the assistance of John and Wayne Pickernell.

The Humiliations' vaunted MTM line figured big-time in the scoring mix of the team's trouncing of the visiting Meat. Luke Moretti enjoyed a four-point outing with two goals and a pair of assists, while Mike Thompson claimed a goal and two helpers. Morris assisted on Thompson's tally, along with Moretti. Stephen Cribbin accounted for a late insurance marker, while Will Hewitt also picked up a helper. Goaltender Luke Smit backstopped the victory, earning his league-leading third shutout of the season in the process.

Veteran Souldiers forward Kelly McCaig had the lone tally for his side, while Aaron Foster accounted for the Hack's only goal - an unassisted marker scored just over five minutes into the game. McCaig's goal (assisted by Brad Sveistrup and Joon Weier) came just five minutes later.

Similarly, the Lads' Dave Ball had his side's only goal, combining with Fil Freitas to erase the Groove's one-goal lead early in the 3rd period. Brett Barnes got the goal for the Groove with Oliver Jiminez assisting. Despite the point, the Lads (2-9-1) remain in 8th place in the standings.

UUHA action continues next Saturday, Jan. with teh Souldiers and Jokers facing off at 7:00 pm, followed by the sixth-place Rockets (3-5-4) and 4th-place Humiliation (7-5-1) at 8:00 pm. The final match of the evening will see the Hack (6-2-4) and Islanders (5-4-3) take to the ice at 9:00 pm. All three games take place at Upper Canada College.
