Yule Log Squads, Schedule Announced

TORONTO - Rosters for the three teams competing in the upcoming 2015 Yule Log tournament have been announced. Barring any late trades or substitutions, this is what the mixed squads competing for annual holiday bragging rights will look like.

The Big Stars will be backstopped by veteran Morningstar/GSI'er Dave Bidini who will be between the pipes rather than patrolling the blue line. Goon captain Richard Clarkin and fellow Brockton Rockets member Dan Kleiman will also don the star-emblazoned black jersey, as will Humiliation members Mike Thompson and Kelly Dutton, Parkdale Lads sniper Mike Frolick, Jokers funnyman Sean Cullen, Souldiers defensive-forecheck specialist Rodney Merchant and the Porcupines Elias Vastis. Free agents Lee Finch and Jody Yvonne will also figure into the Big Stars big plans.

The Screamin' Jays will return to Yule Log action with Freitas brothers Fernando and Luis in the mix - the former likely on D and the latter in the net. Paul Aucoin, Brad Sveistrup and Sebastian Vella are expected to deliver some offensive punch for the squad, which is rounded out by GSI stalwart Seth Singer, Wheatfield Souldiers' Scott Montgomery, Brockton's Mario Vella and free agents Ariel Cabalin and Vlad Inteligator, along with Humiliation goalie Luke Smit, who will playing out as a skater for the occasion.

And the third Yule Log 2015 team will represent a competitive debut for Team Impulse, featuring the likes of Eric Toth and Jon Weier of the Wheatfield Souldiers, and Steve Levine and Marc Hickox of the Jokers (with Hickox in net). Also making the Impulse cut (a.k.a. the Orange Yuletide) are the Humiliation's Glenn Gummerson and Stephen Cribbin, Rockets' Joseph Desjardins, Parkdale Lads' Simon Evers and Greg Thomas of the Morningstars. Free agent Scott Pettus and serial GSI spare Tim Posgate round out the lineup.
