Lads Snap Winless Streak, Hack & Rockets Tie and Bisaillion Credited with Takacs Goal

TORONTO - Jokers captain Ted Bisaillion was inexplicably credited with teammate Mike Takacs' game-winning breakaway goal this past Saturday night at Upper Canada College. The goal, which saw Takacs bust in unmolested on goaltender Luke Smit with just 16 seconds remaining in the 3rd period, was clearly scored by the lanky sniper, who wears #8 for his league-leading team - now 5-0-0 on the season. But somehow, between the time the net bulged behind Smit's shoulder, and the moment the goal was recorded on the scoreboard, Bisaillion was awarded credit for the momentous tally.

"Hey, how did you guys miss my last goal," Tacaks inquired following the game. "Somehow Ted got credit for my breakaway game-winner. This is a conspiracy, damnit!"

Takacs also scored the Jokers' second goal of the game, which was assisted by Craig Hughson and Bisaillion.

Fortunately for Takacs, the egregious error has since been officially corrected. However, in accordance with league policy an apology is not likely to be forthcoming. Takacs now leads the league in scoring with 7 goals.

In other, admittedly less important UUHA news, the Parkdale Hockey Lads avoided posting their worst start in franchise history and snapped a four-game losing streak with a 3-1 win over the Wheatfield Suoldiers. Fernando Freitas opened and closed the scoring for the Lads with tallies in the 1st and 3rd periods. Mike Frolick got the other Lads goal, while Kyle Welton assisted on all three markers. Simon Evers and Ian Seeton also earned assists on the 2nd and 3rd goals, respectively. The lone Souldiers goal was potted by Jon Weier, who beat Lads goalie Luis Freitas by converting a Jimmy Murphy pass hard along the ice. Souldiers back-up goalie Mike Wilk experienced his first loss of the season, having posted a pair of wins in previous action. The loss was the first of the season for the Souldiers who now have a record of 3-1-0.

The Jokers and Humiliation appeared headed for a tightly-contested 4-4 tie on Saturday night, that is until Mike Takacs was sprung by linemate Ted Bisaillion in the dying seconds of the game to break in on and solve goaltender Luke Smit with just 16 seconds remaining on the clock. The goal stood up as the game winner with the Humiliation skating off with a 2-2-1 record while the Jokers remained perfect a 5-0-0. Veteran forward Luke Moretti had a goal and three assists on the game, while defenceman Andrew Blakely figured in on three of the team's four tallies. Mike Thompson and Jimmy Sioukas had the pother two goals for the losing side. Jokers' scoring was handled by Takacs and Steve Levine (both of whom had a pair), as well as Greg Spanovic, who potted the first goal of the game.

Rockets forward James Neilson scored all four of his team's goals against the Beau's Beer Hack on Saturday night, while teammates Dustin Harris and Mike Wilcox earned three assists each as the Brockton Boys tied the reining UUHA Champions 4-4. Brockton appeared to have the game in the bag with just a minute and a half remaining, but the Hack's Louis Durand found a streaking Aaron Foster who solved goaltender Jon Dickson with 1:20 remaining on the clock. Foster had scored the Hack's first goal, as well, and had assisted on a Durand tally midway through the 2nd frame.

With the tie the Hack (2-1-2) move into third place in the league standing while the Rockets (2-2-1) jump up on the Humiliation to claim fifth place.

The UUHA will take a break for Halloween this coming Saturday but will resume action on the afternoon of Saturday, Nov. 7 with three matches scheduled at Maple Leaf Gardens.
