TORONTO - The Wheatfield Souldiers edged the Parkdale Porcupines 3-2 this past Saturday afternoon at Maple Leaf Gardens, while the Jokers, Hack and Gas Station Islanders posted victories in their respective matches later in the evening at Upper Canada College. With the wins, the Jokers (4-0-0) and Souldiers (3-0-0) extended their unbeaten streaks on the season, while the Hack and the Islanders claimed the other two spots on the top half of the league standings.

GSI sophomore Sean Dunn potted four goals on Lads goaltender Luis Freitas, while Kyle Welton and Ian Seeton solved GSI goalie Sean Markle on one occasion each. Steve Boyd got the other tally for the Gassers, who improved to 4-1-0 with the victory. The game was Welton's first since coming off the injured-reserve list. The Lads (0-4-0) are still looking for their first win of the season.

Louis Durand, Blake McDonald, Sean Cordner and team scoring leader Aaron Foster were the lamplighters in the Hacks' 4-0 blanking of the Dufferin Groove this past Saturday night. The win (which bettered the Hack's season record to 2-2-0) represented the third consecutive game in which the Groove (0-3-0) was held off the scoring sheet.

And Steve Levine composed his first hat-trick of the season leading the Jokers to a 7-3 grounding of the Brockton Rockets (2-2-0). Charlie Rishor, Mike Tacaks, Joel Lacoursiere and Gary Rideout Jr. provided the balance of scoring for the Funniest Team on Ice. Meanwhile, Ryan Olfert, Oliver Sutherns and James Neilson kept it respectable for the losing side. Levine also had a pair of assists for a five-point night.

UUHA action continues this Saturday at UCC with the Lads and Souldiers facing off at 7:00 pm, followed by the Jokers and Humiliation. The 9:00 pm match will see the Hack and Rockets take to the ice against one another.
