Humiliation, GSI Rivalry One for the Statistical Ages

TORONTO - Team parity has long been a hallmark of the UUHA tradition, but perhaps no more so than the statistical similarities between two of the teams set to face off against one another tonight. In fact, if the Gas Station Islanders and Humiliation were to consider their past decade-and-a-half of games against each other one long, drawn out contest, it would damn near be a tie.
Over the 19 times the two teams have met under the banner of the UUHA, both GSI and the Humiliation each have six wins. The other seven games ended in draws. And the overall goal differential of the entire series of contests? A remarkable three goals.
If one peruses the records back even further (which Humiliation captain Mike Thompson recently did) the head-to-head stats remain almost just as tight. Over the past 15 years, including Exclaim! League, GTHLA and Exclaim! Cup/Summit matches, GSI boasts 19 wins over the Orange Tide, while the Humiliation has defeated the Gassers on 17 occasions. A dozen ties round out the all-time record between the teams, along with a goal differential of - get ready for it - just four tallies.
In the words of Thompson, "Pretty crazy, huh?"
