TORONTO - The Beau's Beer Hack scored with goalie Aaron Brophy on the bench and just 10 seconds remaining in the game to draw even with the Humiliation and spoil the shutout attempt of spare Humiliation goaltender Aaron Carfagnini this past Saturday night at Upper Canada College. Meanwhile, the Brockton Rockets soared over the Parkdale Porcupines, doubling up their opponent 6-3. The Jokers handed the Gas Station Islanders their first defeat of the season with a 3-1 win, and the Wheatfield Souldiers picked up their second straight victory of the campaign, posting a 4-0 win over the Dufferin Groove, who are scoreless in their first two outings. Souldiers third-string goalie Mike Wilk earned his second career shutout to claim the game's 1st-star honours.
The Porcupines (now 0-3-0) will have an opportunity to pick up their first win of the season this Saturday night vs. the Screaming Jays. That exhibition squad is expected to be comprised of a variety of players from other league teams, including Brockton Rockets stalwarts Joseph Desjardins and John Marshall, and Wheatfield Souldiers veterans Brad Sveistrup, Scot Montgomery and Eric Toth. GSI's Dave Bidini plans to be between the pipes for the Jays, while a pair of Argentinian skaters are anticipated to add an international flair to visitors' bench. The puck drops on that contest at 9:00 pm.
This Saturday's other two matches will see the Gas Station Islanders (2-1-0) take on the Humiliation (2-0-1) at 7:00 pm, while the Parkdale Hockey Lads (0-3-0) size up the Beau's Beer Hack ((0-1-1) in an attempt to make a mark in the win column at 8:00 pm. Both of those tilts will take place at UCC as well.
