TORONTO - The Humiliation saved Jokers back-up goaltender Marc Hickox a trip to the tanning spa this past Saturday night at Maple Leaf Gardens, lighting the lamp on multiple occasions as the team went on to defeat the Funniest Team on Ice by a score of 7-4. The Jokers sticks were even more active, though, out-shooting their opponents by a margin of 33-25. However, Humiliation goaltender Luke Smit stood his ground, blocking or smothering all but four of those shots en route to his team's seventh win of the season.
Humiliation veteran Luke Moretti had two goals and an assist in the contest, while Stephen Cribbin collected three assists in his first game back since being reactivated from the IR. Mike Thomson was credited with a goal and three assists, while Aaron KNight, Andrew Blakeley and Jim Sioukas also scored for the victorious side. Jokers rookie Wayne Jones solved Smit on three occasions for his first-ever UUHA hat trick, while Joel Lacoursiere scored the other Jokers goal.
In other Saturday night league action, the Parkdale Porcupines tied the Dufferin Groove 1-1 with goals from Corey Thorn and Todd Meaney (respectively), while the Wheatfield Souldiers skated to a 3-3 draw with the Gas Station Islanders. Eric Toth tallied three times for the Souldiers hat trick, while John Pickernell, Ryan kalinka and Brian Nevin tallied for the Isles. Meanwhile, the Parkdale Lads endured their fifth consecutive loss, this time falling 5-3 to the Beau's Beer Hack at Upper Canada College. Hack forward Aaron Foster potted a pair of goals while Stefan Barkley, Sean Cordner and Lance Moreton had a goal each. Ian Seeton was responsible for all three Lads tallies.
UUHA Regular Season action continues this coming Saturday, Jan. 31 with the Hack facing off against the Jokers at 7:00 PM, GSI going up against the Humiliation at 8:00 PM and the Lads taking on the Brockton Rockets at 9:00 PM.
