TORONTO - The UUHA Board of Giv'ners assembled this past week to discuss details of the upcoming 2014/15 season. The upshot? Those who enjoyed the length, frequency of games and composition of the league last season should be pleased as the coming campaign is expected to be largely the same.
Barring any necessary adjustments, the 2014/15 Regular Season is expected to consist of 16 games, followed by a five-to-six game Playoffs. The UUHA will maintain it's compliment of eight teams including the Parkdale Lads, Humiliation, Brockton Rockets, Jokers, Wheatfield Souldiers, Beau's Beer Hack, Gas Station Islanders and Parkdale Porcupines. Saturday, Sept. 6 will see the puck drop on the first games of the new season, ideally with all eight league teams seeing action that night. The UUHA Championship Cup is expected to be awarded on Saturday, April 11.
Other take-away elements of the BoG meeting include a July 1 deadline for team deposits and registration of preliminary rosters, a new single-day format for next year's Super Cup tournament (to take place either Friday, April 3 or Saturday, April 4, 2015 at McCormick Arena) and a new administrative fee of $25 to be levied in the event of any player suspensions. For more information on these, or any other league initiatives, players are encouraged to contact their respective GM's.
