TORONTO - The Jokers Hockey Club edged out the red-hot Humiliation in a tight 4-3 contest Saturday night, bringing to an end the latter team's unbeaten streak. All five UUHA teams have now suffered at least one defeat this season.
The Jokers jumped out to an early lead when Gary Rideout Jr. threaded a pass to an open Pete Windrem at 10:42 of the opening frame. Humiliation rookie Paul Aucoin knotted things up later in the 1st period, just before teammate Stephen Cribbin converted a one-timer from defenceman Duncan Bunclark to put the Orange Tide in front. Cribbin's second of the night saw the Humiliation extend their lead midway through period two. But the Jokers replied with a trio of unanswered goals - the first from team captain Ted Bisaillion, followed by a pair of Steve Levine tallies.
Not surprisingly, Levine, Bisaillion and Cribbin rounded out the game's Three Star selections. Also of note was the fact the Humiliation's Kelly Dutton picked up an assist on the team's second goal, extending her points streak to three games to remain among the UUHA's elite scoring leaders.
In other Sept. 26 league action, The Parkdale Lads skated to a dramatic 2-2- tie with the Gas Station Islanders. The game remained scoreless until the beginning of the 3rd period when GSI sniper Dominic Chartier finally managed to put one past Lads keeper James Keast. Mike Frolick tied the score shortly thereafter, burying a feed from Don Lucey. Frolick added his second of the game with just 45 seconds remaining on the clock, sending the Lads bench into as frenzy. The celebration, however, was short-lived as GSI's Don Kerr set up teammate Cam Collyer for the knotting tally with just three seconds left to play.
Lads goal scorer Mike Frolick earned 1st Star honours while Keast and goaltending counterpart Ian McKellar were named the game's other two Stars.
